Dep identifies the external files accessed by a running program and the packages which contain those files. The RPM packager can then identify which files and programs that the program depends on for correct operation. RPMTC (RPM Transitive Closure) transitively identifies the entire set of packages that a package depends on (i.e., if foo.rpm depends on bar.rpm, and bar.rpm depends on baz.rpm, then RPMTC will report both bar and baz as necessary).Applications/SystemDependency identifying helper applications for RPM.The MPEG package contains a public domain video encoder and decoder developed in accordance with the MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) standard. The MPEG standard applies to a family of higher quality digital video compression standards and file formats. This MPEG codec is capable of encoding all MPEG frame types. This tool should be able to encode and decode streams for most MPEG players. MPEG uses algorithms for rate control, buffer-constrained encoding, and quantization decisions similar, but not identical, to those used in the simulation model 1-3 MPEG document. The rate control used is a simple proportional Q-stepsize/Buffer loop that works, but doesn't work very well (higher quality rate-control essential for good quality buffer-constrained MPEG encoding). Verification of the buffering is possible to provide streams for real-time decoders.Applications/MultimediaAn MPEG video format encoder and decoder.Maelstrom is a space combat game, originally ported from the Macintosh. GLUT is well-suited for learning OpenGL and developing simple OpenGL applications, but it is not a full-featured toolkit. If you're interested in creating large applications requiring sophisticated user interfaces, you're probably better off using a native window system toolkit like Motif. If you're interested in learning how to create OpenGL applications or in creating small and simple OpenGL applications, you should install mesa-glut along with mesa and possibly mesa-demos. You may also want to install mesa-devel, which provides a development environment for Mesa programming.System Environment/LibrariesThe GLUT library for Mesa/OpenGL 3-D graphics.Mesa-glut-devel contains the static version of the GLUT (OpenGL Utility Toolkit) library and includes files needed for GLUT development. When indenting source code, programmers have a tendency to use both spaces and tab characters to create the desired indentation. Moreover, some editors by default insert spaces instead of tabs when pressing the tab key. Since the number of space characters showed on screen for each tab character in the source code may change between editors, one of the standard problems facing programmers when moving from one source code editor to another is that code containing both spaces and tabs that was up to now perfectly indented, suddenly becomes a mess in another editor. Artistic Style solves this problem by providing a series of filters, written in C++, that automatically reindent & reformat C/C++/Java source files. These can be used from the command line, or can be incorporated as classes in another C++ program.Development/ToolsA small, fast automatic indentation filter for C/C++/Java code.Aterm is a color vt102 terminal emulator based on rxvt 2.4.8, with the addition of fast transparency. GLX was developed by SGI to integrate OpenGL with X11. Then the Mesa 3-D library can perform its 3-D rendering functions within the X server's process, rather than within the X client program. Since the rendered image does not have to be moved from the X client program to the X server (only the commands required to render the image are sent), you'll potentially see improved performance. 3-D hardware acceleration is then much more practical (and fast). This package includes an accelerated driver for Matrox G200 and G400-based cards. The Mesa 3-D graphics library is a powerful and generic toolset for creating hardware assisted computer graphics. To the extent that Mesa utilizes the OpenGL command syntax or state machine, it is being used with authorization from Silicon Graphics, Inc. However, the author (Brian Paul) makes no claim that Mesa is in any way a compatible replacement for OpenGL or associated with Silicon Graphics, Inc. Those who want a licensed implementation of OpenGL should contact a licensed vendor. However, Mesa is very similar to OpenGL, and you might find Mesa to be a valid alternative to OpenGL. This package is based on Mesa CVS-20000116.User Interface/X Hardware SupportAccelerated OpenGL drivers for MGA, TNT, I810, Mach64 and S3Virge chipsets.A basic e-mail client for the GNOME GUI desktop environment. XEmacs is self-documenting because at any time you can type in control-h to find out what your options are or to find out what a command does. XEmacs is customizable because you can change the definitions of XEmacs commands to anything you want. XEmacs is extensible because you can write entirely new commands--programs in the Lisp language to be run by Emacs' own Lisp interpreter. XEmacs includes a real-time display, which means that the text being edited is visible on the screen and is updated very frequently (usually after every character or pair of characters) as you type. This XEmacs distribution consists of four rpms: xemacs-21.1.8 (the main portion, including the standard XEmacs binary which most people use), xemacs-el-21.1.8 (elisp sources, which you only need if you're going to program with Lisp in XEmacs), xemacs-info-21.1.8 (optional information about XEmacs), and xemacs-extras-21.1.8 (files in common with Emacs, which you must install if you're installing XEmacs and you do not have Emacs installed). To use XEmacs, you'll need to install the XEmacs binary. The xemacs package includes the standard XEmacs binary that most people will use. The XEmacs binary is dynamically linked, with both X11 and TTY (ncurses) support, but without mule (MUlti-Lingual Emacs, the Asian character set) support. You might be able to tailor XEmacs to your use by using one of the following packages instead of xemacs: xemacs-static (static link with X11, ncurses, NO mule), xemacs-X11 (dynamic link with X11, NO ncurses, NO mule), xemacs-mule (dynamic link with X11, NO ncurses, mule) or xemacs-noX (dynamic link with NO X11, ncurses, NO mule). In order to use XEmacs, you will have to install either xemacs OR one of the four choices listed above (xemacs-static, xemacs-X11, xemacs-mule, xemacs-noX). Check each of the individual package descriptions if you want more information. You will also need to install xemacs-extras, if you do not have GNU Emacs already installed.Applications/EditorsAn X Window System based version of GNU Emacs.Xemacs-X11 includes an XEmacs binary you'll want to use instead of the binary included in the xemacs package, if you don't ever run XEmacs on the standard console (the ncurses interface). You'll only need to install it if you're planning on incorporating some Lisp programming into your XEmacs experience.Applications/EditorsThe .el source files for XEmacs.Xemacs-extras includes files which are used by both GNU Emacs and XEmacs. If you don't have GNU Emacs installed, be sure to also install this package when you install the XEmacs text editor.Applications/EditorsFiles that XEmacs has in common with GNU Emacs.Install this package if you want the information files that are distributed with the XEmacs text editor.Applications/EditorsInformation files for XEmacs.Xemacs-mule includes an XEmacs binary with support for MUlti-Lingual Emacs and the Asian character set. Install xemacs-mule (instead of xemacs) if you need to use Asian characters.
